Pedestrian fatally struck by town car on U.S. Highway 15 in Sumter County
A pedestrian was struck and killed Thursday around 1 p.m. on U.S. Highway 15 near the Quarter Mile Road intersection, according to the South Carolina Highway Patrol.
A 2003 Lincoln Town Car was traveling north on Highway 15 when the pedestrian attempted to cross the street. The vehicle collided with the pedestrian, who was transported by EMS and died as a result of their injuries, officials say. The driver was not injured.
Sumter County Coroners Office is expected to release more details on the deceased according to South Carolina Highway Patrol.
The incident remains under investigation by the South Carolina Highway Patrol.
