Two men were shot and one has died, Richland County sheriff says

One man was killed and another was hospitalized following a recent shooting, according to the Richland County Sheriff’s Department.

At about 3 p.m. Monday, deputies responded to a report of a shooting in the 100 block of John Ammons Road, the sheriff’s department said in a news release. That’s at the intersection with Garners Ferry Road in the Eastover area of Richland County.

Deputies found two men who had been shot, according to the release.

One of the men died at the scene while EMS took the other to an area hospital, the sheriff’s department said. Further information on the surviving victim’s condition was not available.

The Richland County Coroner’s Office has not publicly identified the victim who died.

No other injuries were reported.

Information about the shooter, or shooters, and if any more people were involved, was not available. There was no word about a motive for the gunfire.

No arrests were reported by the sheriff’s department, which is continuing to investigate the shooting. The sheriff’s department said that it does not believe there is an ongoing threat to the community.
