A Pee Dee man is facing a slew of charges after two police officers were injured while attempting to serve a felony arrest warrant, according to the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division.

Steve Allen Mason Jr., 33, was charged Friday with two counts of attempted murder, two counts of wounding a police officer while resisting arrest, two counts of possession of a firearm during the commission of a violent Crime, aggravated breach of peace, possession of a firearm and ammunition by a prohibited person and resisting arrest, according to a news release.

On June 18, two officers with the Dillion Police Department were attempting to serve an outstanding felony arrest warrant on Mason in 100 block of Hwy 301 North in Dillion, according to an arrest warrant.

During the encounter, Dillon resisted arrest and began fighting with officers in the middle of the highway. Amid the struggle, Dillon fired his handgun, striking one officer in the left arm and leaving another with minor injuries, the warrant said.

Dillon then fled the scene before he was later captured and booked into the Dillion County Detention Center.
