One person was killed in a crash Saturday morning in Florence County, according to the South Carolina Highway Patrol.

The crash occurred around 2:40 a.m. Saturday, when the driver of a 2007 Chevy Silverado was traveling east on Possom Fork Road near Holder Boulevard, Master Trooper William Bennett of the South Carolina Highway Patrol said.

The driver, and sole occupant, of the Silverado veered off the left side of the road before striking a ditch, overturning and hitting a tree, Bennett said.

The driver was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash and has not yet been identified by the Florence County Coroner’s Office.

The collision remains under investigation by the South Carolina Highway Patrol, Bennett said.
