Two former convenience store workers were arrested for lottery fraud, according to the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division.

Eric Thomas Brown Jr., 25, was charged Monday with intent to defraud, counterfeit game tickets and conspiracy to defraud the South Carolina Education Lottery after a surveillance camera caught him passing stolen scratch-off tickets at Stop-A-Minit, located at 3300 Abbeville Highway in Anderson, according to a news release.

On May 30 and June 4, investigators say Brown and Kayla Marie Madden, 37, engaged in a scheme to defraud the South Carolina Education Lottery as Madden assisted Brown in cashing-in on multiple scratch-off tickets Brown had stolen.

Both Brown and Madden were employees at the store at the time of the incident, according to arrest warrants.

Madden was arrested on July 8, and charged with conspiracy to defraud the South Carolina Education Lottery.

The amount of money collected from the stolen tickets was not reported.

Brown and Madden were booked into the Anderson County Detention Center.
