Virginia reporter, photographer killed during live TV broadcast
A reporter and photographer for a Virginia television station were killed Wednesday after a shooting during a live broadcast, the station reported.
WDBJ, the CBS affiliate in Roanoke, Va., said Alison Parker and Adam Ward were doing a feature story in Moneta, Va. when they were shot. The incident happened around 7 a.m. Wednesday.
Parker had worked on WDBJ’s morning team since May 2014. Before that, she worked as the Jacksonville bureau chief for WCTI NewsChannel 12 in New Bern, N.C., according to her LinkedIn bio.
Ward had been a photojournalist at WDBJ since 2011, according to his LinkedIn profile. But he reportedly was planning to move to Charlotte soon to be with his fiance, a WDBJ staffer said Wednesday during a broadcast.
