Teen shot in leg at Cookout in Clemson

The Clemson city police are investigating a shooting incident in which a 16 year old was struck in the leg by a bullet in the early pre-dawn hours Sunday after leaving a Cookout restaurant.

Police aren’t releasing the identity because the victim is a juvenile, Police Chief Jimmy Dixon said.

Authorities don’t believe there’s a threat to the general public, and the people involved aren’t affiliated with Clemson University, Dixon said.

At about 2 a.m., the victim and friends were leaving after eating when shots were fired in the area of either the Cookout or Hibachi Grill China Buffet parking lots, Dixon said.

A bullet entered the rear passenger door and struck the victim in the leg, he said.

The victim was taken to the hospital in a personally owned vehicle and treated and released, Dixon said.

The case is being treated as an attempted murder investigation.

Police are asking anyone with information to call 1-888-Crime-SC.
