Belton-Honea Path coach charged with sex with a minor

ANDERSON, SC A Belton-Honea Path teacher and coach has been charged with criminal sexual conduct with a minor and sexual battery with a student.

Rafael Donyea Traynum, 43, of Williamston, turned himself in to Anderson County Sheriff’s Office deputies today. He was placed on administrative leave Aug. 25 by Anderson County School District 2.

Traynum is accused of being in an relationship with a student from June 2009 to September 2012.

The student is now 21.

She told deputies that while she was a student she was “romantically involved with her basketball coach.”

He remains at the Anderson County Detention Center, awaiting a bond hearing.
