Columbia Police involved in standoff with allegedly armed man on Fort Jackson Blvd.
Members of the Columbia Police Department are involved in a standoff with a man suspected to be armed.
Columbia police officers are joined by members of the SWAT and Crisis Negotiation teams on the 4600 block of Fort Jackson Blvd, Public Information Officer Jennifer Timmons said. According to Timmons, the man — who’s suspected of being armed — won’t come out of a residence after he allegedly fired his weapon and injured another man he was arguing with. The man then went inside the residence where he remained, Timmons said late Thursday.
Timmons said the second man, who was injured in his leg, was taken to an area hospital with non-life threatening injuries. She said more details will be available as the situation develops.
