Columbia pastor charged with domestic violence
Columbia police charged a local pastor for domestic violence after a female complainant said he struck her in the head, according to officials.
Jennifer Timmons, a department spokeswoman, said 59-year-old Anthony Dicks Sr. was charged with third-degree criminal domestic violence and resisting arrest following the incident, which occurred on Tuesday.
Timmons said the victim told Columbia officers that Dicks physically assaulted her in the head area following an argument the two were involved in.
At some point during the arrest, Timmons said Dicks allegedly resisted arrest, but she did not provide further details.
Dicks is listed as the pastor of the Friendship Baptist Church and has been the church’s pastor since Sept. 22, 1982, according to the church’s website.
Dicks was transported to the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center where he has since been released on bond, records show.
