Clover man claims dogs chasing cat damaged truck

A pack of dogs chasing a cat in Clover ended with a Clover man’s truck torn up — but the animals apparently escaped, according to a police report.

The man, 50, told York County Sheriff’s Office deputies responding to the call on Old North Main Street that the group of dogs was chasing the cat under his truck into the engine compartment and, while under the truck, chewed up wires and tore out a lighting harness. The terrified cat then leaped onto the hood of the truck with the dogs in pursuit, and the animals scratched the truck’s paint, the report states.

York County animal control was notified, but it’s unclear if the animals were found. Cats and dogs must be leashed under York County law.

Deputies found bite marks on the sides and hood of the truck along with paw prints and scratches to the truck, and also found wires that had been ripped out and chewed on.
