Greenville woman to appear in court for allegedly selling fake college football tickets

A 52-year-old Greenville woman is scheduled to appear in state court Sept. 15 on computer crime charges for allegedly selling fraudulent football game tickets for Clemson, South Carolina and other colleges, according to prosecutors and court records.

Melissa M. Grey is scheduled to appear before Judge Letitia Verdin at the Greenville County Courthouse, according to the 13th Circuit Solicitor’s Office.

Grey was charged last year with a second-degree computer crime, according to an arrest warrant and court records. Additional computer-crime charges were filed earlier this year, court records show.

Neither she nor her attorney could be reached for comment.

Grey allegedly used a computing device to advertise 2014 Clemson and South Carolina tickets and parking passes for sale on Craigslist and TigerNet, according to warrants.

Several people reported they deposited money in Grey’s PayPal account but she never provided tickets or passes or she gave them reprinted tickets, according to warrants.

Five people reported Grey collected $4,240 from them after she advertised 2014 Clemson and South Carolina tickets and parking passes for sale onCraigslist, according to one warrant.

When they tried to contact Grey, she would not respond, the Greenville County Sheriff's Office said. She returned all the money once law enforcement got involved, Deputy Drew Pinciaro said.

Other people reported that after Grey advertised 2014 and 2015 Clemson football tickets and parking passes on TigerNet and Craigslist, they paid her and, according to a warrant. Grey collected $1,790 but either didn’t provide the tickets or gave them reprinted tickets, according to the warrant.
