Suspect sought in Sumter sexual assault

The Sumter County Sheriff’s Office has placed 23-year-old Devante Ricardo Sanders, also know as “Rico,” of Lincoln Ave., Sumter, on its most wanted list, and seeks information on the suspect’s whereabouts.

Sanders is wanted in connection with a Sept. 4, 2015, incident in the 200 block of Murphy Street in which a woman was allegedly drugged and sexually assaulted. In addition, Sanders has multiple bench warrants for contempt of magistrate court, and is currently on probation on drug possession charges.

Sanders is described as a 5-foot-5 black male weighing approximately 180 pounds, with dreadlocked hair and brown eyes.
