Man stabbed behind Platinum Plus strip club dies

A man who was stabbed during an argument Friday afternoon near a Columbia area strip club has died, the Richland County coroner reported Saturday.

Coroner Gary Watts identified the victim as Cory Nicholas Harmon, 29, of Whiteford Road, Columbia. Watts said Harmon died at 4:54 p.m. at Palmetto Health Richland hospital.

Richland County sheriff’s deputies were called to the scene on Jacob Road in northwestern Richland County, behind the Platinum Plus strip club, around 4 p.m. Friday. A man who had been stabbed was taken away by ambulance, Sgt. Kevin Lawrence said.

Lawrence said Friday that investigators were questioning a person of interest in the stabbing and witnesses to the altercation.

Neither Harmon or the person of interest were patrons of the club.
