18 students taken to hospitals after school bus crash
Authorities said 18 students suffered minor injuries after their school bus was hit from behind Wednesday by a pickup truck while making a stop in Lexington County.
Lexington School District 2 spokeswoman Kay Joseph said the bus was hit around 1 p.m. on S.C. 302 just outside of South Congaree. It was carrying students from Congaree Elementary and Congaree-Wood Childhood Center, Joseph said.
Police said the 18 students were taken to hospitals as a precaution, and none of them appeared to be seriously injured.
Some other children on the bus who were not hurt were sent home with their parents.
Troopers with the S.C. Highway Patrol were investigating the wreck and information on the pickup truck driver was not available.
