Columbia police charge two in shooting at Gonzales Gardens
Columbia police have charged two people in connection with a shooting that occurred Friday in Gonzales Gardens that wounded one, according to officials.
Jennifer Timmons, a department spokeswoman, said Rick “Ricky” Anderson, 33, was taken into custody Tuesday at a residence located in the 2600 block of Main Street. Anderson has been charged with assault and battery of a high and aggravated nature and possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime.
Timmons said Anderson allegedly shot a female acquaintance in the leg after an argument broke out at Gonzales Gardens on Friday. The victim was transported to a local hospital to receive treatment for non life-threatening wounds.
Timmons also said Maci Shavon Williamson, 24, was also charged in connection with Columbia police’s investigation into the shooting. Williamson, Timmons said, is accused of failing to notify police about Anderson’s whereabouts following the shooting.
Both Anderson and Williamson were transported to the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center where they are being held.
