Man who fled from Columbia police under $101,000 bond in Richland County jail
A 45-year-old man who allegedly stole a vehicle and fled from Columbia police Saturday was in jail Sunday night under a $101,000 bond and facing numerous charges.
Charges against Bradigdent Young include hit and run causing minor personal injury, possession of a stolen motor vehicle, failure to stop for a blue light, disregarding a stop sign, reckless driving, failure to stop for a police command and driving under suspension, according to records at Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center on Bluff Road.
According to Columbia police spokeswoman Jennifer Timmons, the incident happened around 10 a.m. Saturday, when a driver – driving a reportedly stolen vehicle – ran a stop sign on Heidt Street.
A Columbia police officer initiated a traffic stop but the man did not comply, Timmons said.
Police followed the vehicle, which then crashed on Harden Street near the Drew Wellness Center.
The suspect fled from the vehicle, Timmons said, but was captured by police.
Further details were unavailable Sunday evening.
