Man wanted by Sumter County Sheriff’s Office arrested in Florida

A 25-year-old man wanted for allegedly sexually assaulting a three-year-old girl in Sumter County was arrested in Florida over the weekend.

Christopher Tilton was wanted by the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office, said public information officer Braden Bunch, who explained that Tilton was arrested following a traffic stop in Florida. According to Bunch, Tilton was charged with first-degree criminal sexual conduct with a minor.

Formerly a Sumter County resident, Tilton was arrested by the Lake County Sheriff’s Office, and will be transported back to South Carolina to face charges from the Aug. 7 alleged incident, said Bunch.
