Exchange of gunfire leaves one dead at Harbour Landing

RICHLAND COUNTY, SC Richland County deputies are investigating a shooting Thursday afternoon that killed one, officials said.

Lt. Curtis Wilson, a department spokesman, said deputies responded to a shots-fired call near Junebug Court around 2:30 p.m.

When deputies arrived, they located a deceased individual in the 100 block of Leeward Loop, Wilson said.

Witnesses in the area told deputies that gunfire was exchanged between the victim and an unknown individual inside a residence at Harbour Landing located near Junebug Court. The individual inside of the residence fired shots in retaliation, killing the victim.

Deputies will continue to investigate the incident, and The State will continue to update this story as more information becomes available.
