Richland County deputies have charged a man with murder after he allegedly shot and killed another man following a dispute over the two had about a gun transaction in September, officials said.

Sheriff Leon Lott said 22-year-old Randall Gadson was charged with murder after deputies took him into custody Wednesday morning at his residence located in the 1600 block of Willowby Street off Percival Road.

Lott said that on the evening of Sept. 18 deputies responded to a shots-fired call at 325 Percival Road. When deputies arrived, Lott said they discovered 21-year-old Paul Coleman lying on the ground with a gunshot wound to the head. Coleman was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Further investigation into the incident revealed that the shooting occurred after a dispute over a gun transaction, Lott said.

Investigators received information from concerned citizens that led them to believe that Gadson was the person responsible for shooting Coleman, Lott said.

Gadson has been transported to the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center, Lott said.
