Coroner IDs motorcyclist killed Friday on Clemson Road

Richland County Coroner Gary Watts has identified the motorcyclist killed Friday afternoon in a collision on Clemson Road at Winslow Way.

The rider was Jeffery Brazell Jr., 26, of 114 Earline Drive in West Columbia, was pronounced dead at 4:21 p.m. at Palmetto Health Richland hospital, according to Watts. He was taken there by ambulance after the 3:30 p.m. collision.

Watts said Brazell was not wearing a helmet and died from blunt force injuries to the heads and body.

Sgt. Bob Beres of the S.C. Highway Patrol said Friday that Brazell’s 2006 Kawasaki motorcycle was heading west on Clemson Road when the driver of a 2013 Kia SUV pulled out from Winslow Way to head east, crossing the westbound lane. The driver of the SUV and his passenger were not injured, Beres said.

The Highway Patrol is investigating.
