Identity of Kangaroo Express armed robber sought

The Lexington County Sheriff’s Department released surveillance photos and video that recorded the armed robbery of a convenience store on the Charleston Highway in West Columbia late on the night of October 19.

A masked man entered the Kangaroo Express around 11:15 p.m. and demanded money from the clerk at gunpoint. With cash in hand, the gunman fled the scene on foot.

Surveillance video shows a dark pickup truck circling the parking lot during the robbery and leaving at the same time and in the same direction the robber took when he fled the store.

Tracking dogs followed his scent to Gardners Terrace Road, where the the trail was lost, investigators said.

The robber is described as a black male about 5’6” to 5’8” tall and weighing 125 to 145 pounds.
