Sumter County Sheriff’s Office announces multiple arrests
Sumter County Sheriff’s Office officials said they have charged two people involved in separate crimes on Sunday and Monday.
Braden Bunch, a sheriff’s office spokesman, said 31-year-old Mario Latrell Spencer, of Sumter, was charged with second-degree domestic violence Sunday after he allegedly punched a victim in the face and then kicked her in the side. A warrant also alleges that Spencer attempted to stop the victim from calling law enforcement.
Bunch also said that sheriff’s deputies charged 29-year-old Grace Tufares, of Pinewood, on Monday with unlawful neglect of a child or helpless person. A warrant filed for Tufares’ arrest alleges that on Sept. 28, Tufares placed a newborn child in danger after it tested positive for marijuana and amphetamines.
Both suspects were transported to the Sumter-Lee Regional Detention Center where they were held pending a bond hearings
