Wofford student from Columbia reported dead on campus

Authorities are investigating a death Sunday at Wofford College, the Spartanburg County Coroner's Office said.

The State Law Enforcement Division was notified Sunday afternoon about a death on campus, SLED spokesman Thom Berry said. SLED investigates all deaths on college and university campuses.

The Coroner's Office, the City Police Department and Wofford Public Safety are also investigating the death. No information about the circumstances surrounding the death were immediately available.

An email about the death investigation was sent to students and faculty late Sunday afternoon. The college said the deceased student was a senior from Columbia and a member of Kappa Alpha fraternity.

Counselors were made available for students Sunday.
