A 22-year-old Columbia man was charged with drug trafficking and possession with intent to distribute after tips from the community lead narcotics agents to the parking lot of a north Columbia convenience store where illegal drug sales allegedly were being made.

Jeremie Woods was charged with trafficking in cocaine, crack cocaine, and heroin as well as possession with intent to distribute marijuana, police chief Skip Holbrook said in a news release.

Investigators confiscated nearly $49,000 in illegal drugs from Wood’s SUV at the time of this arrest, Holbrook said.

Investigators said they smelled marijuana coming from Wood’s SUV when they arrived at 5718 Farrow Road to investigate the drug dealing tips. The cache of drugs were found when the vehicle was searched by investigators and a police dog.

Woods was being held at the Alvin S. Glen Detention Center Wednesday night. Bond was set at $40,000.
