Richland County coroner identifies motorcyclist killed in collision
The Richland County Coroner’s Office has identified the motorcyclist who died from the injuries he sustained in a collision at the Gervais and Assembly street intersection Wednesday.
Coroner Gary Watts said 56-year-old David Hensley, of Columbia, died as a result of mulch-traumatic injuries as a result of the collision.
Preliminary information from the Columbia traffic unit indicates the motorcycle and vehicle were traveling in opposite directions on Gervais Street around 7 a.m.
The two vehicles collided when the car attempted a left turn onto Assembly Street. The driver of the car has been cited for failing to yield right of way.
The Columbia Police Department will continue to investigate the collision.
