Kershaw County deputies search for suspect who harassed The State paper delivery driver
Kershaw County deputies are searching for a man they say allegedly harassed a delivery driver for The State newspaper Friday.
An incident report filed with the sheriff’s office states that a deputy was dispatched to an area in the 800 block of Ridgeway Road in Lugoff in reference to a harassment call.
When the deputy arrived, he met with the victim who said she was at a mailbox when a dark-colored 2008 Chevrolet Impala pulled up beside her, the report said. The driver, described in the report as a white male in his mid-30s, rolled down his window and stared at her.
The man the told the victim that there has been “several robberies in the area,” and that she needed to leave, the report said. The man then allegedly became irate with the victim, calling her several profane names. The man then fled the area after a neighbor walked out of their home.
A short time later, the victim was still performing her duties in the area when the man returned on foot carrying a baseball bat, the report said.
When the victim saw the man, she got into her car and fled from the scene, the report said. But not before the suspect hit the back of her car causing $350 in damage to the vehicle.
Anyone with information regarding the incident is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1 (888)-CRIME-SC.
