Skull discovered near Berkeley County elementary school

A skull was found near Cainhoy Elementary School on Nov. 27 according to the Berkeley County Coroner’s Office.

On Monday, Berkeley County Coroner Bill Salisbury said a hunter found the skull in a wooded area about 100 yards behind the school, adding that it appears to have been there for some time.

Salisbury said the Coroner’s Office and the Berkeley County Sheriff Office searched the area and also found a small bone, adding the area will continue to be searched with with cadaver dogs.

The skull will be sent to SLED for DNA testing for identification, said Salisbury.
