Two women charged for using stolen credit cards in Midlands

Two women have been charged with financial fraud following an investigation into a series of stolen credit card purchases totalling more than $11,000 worth of merchandise across the Midlands.

Xanthe Amanda Smith, 28, has been charged with four counts os financial transaction card fraud, four counts of financial identity fraud and 1 count of financial transaction card theft, Lexington County Sheriff Jay Koon said in a news release.

Smith, whose image was captured in surveillance photos and released to the public November 11, was identified by distinctive tattoos on her right calf, left thigh and right chest.

Angela Hope Somogyi, 44, of Gaston, was charged with six counts of financial transaction card fraud, six counts of financial identity fraud and three counts of financial transaction card theft.

Because of the ongloing investigation, the relationship between Smith and Somogyi, if one exists, was not released, Lexington County Sheriff spokesman Adam Myrick said in an email exchange.

The other three individuals captured in surveillance photos with Smith have been identified by authorities, but their identities have not been made public, Myrick said.
