One person dead, 2 injured in 3 vehicle accident Wednesday morning in Sumter

The driver of a 2005 Infinity SUV was killed Wednesday morning in a head-on collision on Lewis Road in Sumter, the South Carolina Highway Patrol reported.

The unidentified driver was heading south on Lewis Road around 8:55 a.m. when an SUV going in the opposite direction crossed the center line and hit the victim’s vehicle head-on. Another car was also hit after the fatal collision.

Two drivers were taken to a local hospital for treatment. The driver of the Infinity was pronounced dead on the scene.

An investigation of the accident by the highway patrol continues.
