Attempt to stop suspicious vehicle leads to interstate chase
Deputies with the Richland County Sheriff’s Department tried to stop a suspicious vehicle around 1:30 p.m. Christmas day after a check of the license plate came back for a different make of vehicle reported stolen in Lexington County.
Midway through the chase which ended up in Calhoun County, something was thrown from the passenger window of the 1995 Oldsmobile Cutless which deputies found and believe to be drugs, sheriff’s department spokesman Curtis Wilson said.
Brian Crumpler, 41, was taken into custody on I-26 eastbound at mile marker 130.
Crumpler faces charges of driving with a suspended license, failure to stop for blue lights and siren, drugs marijuana and drugs cocaine, kidnapping and receiving stolen goods, as well as a previous forgery charge from Irmo, Wilson said.
