Man charged in slaying of ex-girlfriend, whose body was found Friday on Farrow Road
A 22-year-old man has been arrested and charged with murder in connection with the shooting death of a woman authorities say was his ex-girlfriend.
The body of 19-year-old Deanndra Roach, identified Saturday afternoon by Richland County Coroner Gary Watts, was found along Farrow Road Friday afternoon.
Richland County Sheriff’s deputies arrested Andre Heatley Jr. early Saturday morning at 7703 Broad River Road.
Hours earlier, around 5 p.m. Friday, a man walking his dog along the 10,000 block of Farrow Road found a woman lying unresponsive on the ground next to her vehicle.
She had been shot multiple times in the upper and lower body. EMS workers pronounced her dead at the scene. She died of complications of the multiple gunshots to her upper body, Watts said.
According to the sheriff’s department, Heatley is the Roach’s ex-boyfriend and was captured on video surveillance using the victim’s debit card at three locations soon after her death.
