Out-of-state couple charged with shooting at a Lexington County couple’s car on I-95
A North Carolina man and Texas woman were charged with attempted murder after what is being described as a road rage incident Thursday morning on I-95 near Santee.
Armand Shondre Bizzell, 21, of Fayetteville, N.C., and Natasha Marie Nelson, 30, of, Fort Worth, Texas, were being held on $50,000 bond in Orangeburg County after their vehicle was stopped within an hour of the shooting, Sheriff Leroy Ravenell said in a news release.
A couple from Swansea, in Lexington County, told authorities that a woman fired a handgun at their car after the VW she was riding in almost sideswiped them in a southbound lane of I-95. The VW had been driving recklessly, darting in and out of traffic, before the shot was fired, the couple said.
When stopped on Old State Road sear Santee, the VW’s driver, Armand Bizzell, said he was the one who fired the gun. He said the victims’ car was “swerving at him,” the incident report stated.
Bizzell was arrested after he told officers that the loaded handgun, marijuana and scales in the glove compartment were his. Natasha Marie Nelson was arrested after evidence from the scene and the testimony from the victims suggested she had fired the gun at the victims’ car.
The third passenger in the VW was released because he had nothing to do with the shooting, the report stated.
