Facts still unclear surrounding Club Bliss altercation March 13
The Richland County Sheriff’s Department appealed for the public’s help in sorting out what happened in front of the Club Bliss (also known as Bliss Ultra Lounge) dance club early Saturday morning, March 13, that sent a man to the hospital.
“Social media has created a false story about what may have happened at the business,” Sheriff Leon Lott said in releasing the incident report.
Deputies were dispatched 8605 Two Notch Road at 3 a.m. following the report of an altercation in the line of patrons waiting to get in to the club. Two people were taken by ambulance to the hospital but according to the incident report, “no one was cooperative” at the club in shedding light on what happened.
At the hospital, one of the victims was talkative.
He told investigators that he and his friend argued with the club’s security guards when the two were accused of breaking in line and kicked to the back of the line. He said he was hit by a guard as he walked away from the club causing him to be grazed by a car slowly driving by on Two Notch Road. He said he was then hit by several guards, handcuffed and taken back to the club where he saw the other victim bloodied and apparently unconscious at the end of the line.
Investigators never talked to the other victim the day of the incident. Although a nurse told them that he was “highly intoxicated and combative toward the staff,” he was unconscious when deputies arrived.
Since the initial report was taken, investigators have been unable to reach one of the victims and the other has not cooperated with the investigation, sheriff’s department spokesman Curtis Wilson said.
