Armed robbery reported on USC campus
A man put a knife to a victim’s throat and demanded his wallet in the University of South Carolina’s East Quad courtyard about 12:50 a.m. Friday, university officials reported early Friday.
The suspect took the wallet and immediately left the area, officers and a K-9 unit determined. The victim was not injured. The East Quad is located at 1500 Wheat St. on the downtown campus.
The suspect was described as a white male with long blond hair, appearing to be 20 to 21 years old. He was described as 6-foot-1 to 6-foot-2 with a thin build. He was wearing glasses, a black jacket and khaki shorts.
University of South Carolina police sent out a Carolina Alert early Friday morning in response to the armed robbery. The university also sent out emails and texts and posted information on its website and social media accounts.
