Suspect flees after stabbing, crashes vehicle at Waffle House

The Richland County Sheriff’s Department is investigating a stabbing that led to a vehicle chase where the suspect was found in a crashed vehicle Tuesday night

Deputies responded to a report of an aggravated assault at My House Restaurant and Bar, 7205 Two Notch Road, near Columbia Mall shortly before 11 p.m.

Deputies noticed a vehicle fleeing the scene at a high rate of speed and pursued it, according to Lt. Curtis Wilson. They then called off the chase due to excessive rate of speed of the vehicle and returned back to the scene of the incident.

There they found a victim with an injury to the lower body caused by a sharp object. EMS transported the victim to Palmetto Health Richland for the injury.

Deputies believe a verbal altercation happened inside the restaurant and continued outside, where the victim was stabbed. Wilson said the suspect also presented a handgun at the victim then fled the area after.

Deputies canvassed the area where they believe the suspect fled and located the vehicle wrecked behind a Waffle House at the corner of Parklane and Farrow roads. Deputies discovered a large amount of crack cocaine, cash and firearm rounds.

The suspect was transported to Palmetto Health Richland. His condition and injuries are unknown.

The sheriff’s department have not announced charges yet.
