Coroner identifies pedestrian killed in Thursday wreck
The Columbia Police Department is investigating a fatal collision where a pedestrian died from his injuries.
Coroner Gary Watts said Bookert T. Smith, 59, of Columbia was killed at the intersection of Farrow and Frye roads about 8:30 p.m. Thursday night.
Smith attempted to cross the roadway when he was struck by a vehicle. He died at the scene.
An autopsy performed this morning indicated Smith died from injuries resulting from the collision.
The traffic investigation indicated the pedestrian was intoxicated and in the roadway unlawfully.
Columbia police continue to investigate the incident.
