Verbal altercation escalates to stabbing in Richland County
A verbal altercation turned violent Sunday, leading to a stabbing according to the Richland County Sheriff’s Department.
Andre Washington, 55, is charged with assault and battery in the second degree, after he allegedly stabbed another person, said public information liaison Lt. Curtis Wilson, adding sheriff’s deputies responded at 1:30 p.m. to an aggravated assault call at 508 Sugar Hill Lane, near Bluff Road.
The verbal altercation escalated when Washington pulled a knife and stabbed the other person in the upper body, Wilson said. The person that was stabbed was taken to an area hospital with non-life threatening injuries, said Wilson, adding that Washington was transported to Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center.
