USC female student allegedly followed; registered sex offender charged
A female student at the University of South Carolina called campus police Thursday evening after noticing a man seemed to be following her as she walked several blocks off the Horseshoe to her car parked near Senate and Pickens Streets.
When they arrived on scene, USC police found Edwin Arnold Davis, 40, walking out of nearby bushes. He admitted that he had been following the student, USC police said in their crime bulletin online.
Davis was charged with breach of peace and now has been banned from the USC campus.
Davis has a long criminal history including the crimes of armed robbery, unlawfully carrying a firearm, sexual assault, aggravated voyeurism (peeping tom) , and trespassing, USC said.
USC said that although Davis is not wanted by police at this time, he has been banned from campus. If he is seen on campus, please contact USC Police immediately by dialing 911 or using the RAVE Guardian Safety App.
