Columbia man struck, killed Wednesday night by train
Richland County coroner Gary Watts identified the Columbia man killed Wednesday night when he was struck by a train in northeast Columbia.
Glenn Harvester Tyler, 56, was either sitting on the tracks or near them at 8:45 p.m. when he was struck, Watts said. The accident occurred at the railroad cross near Farrow Road and Hinton Street.
Tyler died at the scene, Watts said. The South Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating the death.
