Sumter man wanted for kidnapping

A Sumter man has been added to the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office 10 Most Wanted list, after being charged with burglary and kidnapping.

Shaun Delpatrick Rich, 43, is alleged to have broken into the home of the mother of his 10-month-old child and forced her to drive them from the residence in her vehicle, said Sumter public information officer Ken Bell. The woman convinced him to stop at a convenience store where she got a customer to call 911 while she locked herself and the child in a restroom, Bell said.

Rich fled the scene before law enforcement arrived and hasn’t been apprehended, said Bell, who described Rich as a 5-foot-8, 205-pound black male with black hair and brown eyes.

Bell said anyone who spots Rich shouldn’t approach him, but should call 911.
