Man arrested for having sex with 14-year-old in Lugoff
A 27-year-old Winnsboro man was arrested on April 21 for having sex with a minor.
Airflack Leslie Crumpton Jr., 27, was charged with with criminal sexual conduct with a minor in the second degree after being arrested by the Kershaw County Sheriff’s Office.
A mother filed a report in January with her daughter telling investigators Crumpton had sex with her at a residence in Lugoff, on Oct. 7, 2015, said Sheriff Jim Matthews, adding Crumpton lived in a home in Lugoff where the young girl had been residing. Crumpton reportedly engaged the girl in sexual conversation which resulted in his having sex, Sheriff Matthews said.
The girl made an entry in her diary in which she detailed the encounter, which her sister found and showed their mother, according to Sheriff Matthews who said shortly after, the mother and daughter went to the sheriff’s office, and after a forensic test, there was a warrant for Crumpton’s arrest.
Fairfield County Sheriff’s Department officers located Crumpton in Fairfield County and took him into custody, said Sheriff Matthews, adding Crumpton corroborated the girl’s complaint and was transported to the Kershaw County Detention Center where he remains on a $30,000 bond. He has previously been arrested for simple possession of marijuana and public disorderly conduct, according to Sheriff Matthews.
“At some point adult men need to realize that it is a serious violation of the law to engage in sexual relations with a minor,” Sheriff Matthews said. “Exercising a little self-control on the part of the adult can eliminate a lot of heartache for everyone involved in these situations.”
