Robber wishes Camden woman a ‘nice night’ after stealing money and threatening her children

A Camden woman told police that she was forced to withdraw money from her credit union after her home was invaded and her sons threatened with a sawed-off shotgun late Wednesday night.

The older of the two sons told police that around 11 p.m. a short black man, dressed in black, wearing gloves and armed with a shotgun, forced his way into the house through the front door and demanded money from the boys and their mother.

The woman told police she was forced to drive to her credit union and make a cash withdrawal after she told the man she had no money in the house. She said the man threatened to “blast’ her son, who was in the back seat with him, when she started to pull over at a Kangaroo gas station on the way back to the house.

Once back at the house, the man jumped out of her car, wished her and her sons “a nice night” and took off on foot, she said.

A effort to track the man with police dogs was unsuccessful, the police report indicated.

An investigation into the incident continues.
