Suspect caught on camera robbing register from Columbia gas station
The Richland County Sheriff’s Department is investigating a robbery at a Columbia gas station where the suspect stole a register from behind a counter.
The incident occurred around 8:30 p.m. April 19 at a Shell gas station, 1909 Percival Road.
Surveillance video footage shows the suspect walking into the business, demanding the register, then walking behind the counter. The suspect then ripped the register from the counter, which was attached by wires, and fled the business in a red SUV.
No one was injured during the incident.
The suspect is described as a black male in his 20s wearing black pants and a black shirt.
Anyone who can identify the suspect is asked to contact Crimestoppers at 1-888-CRIME-SC, text “TIPSC” plus the message to CRIMES (274637) orwww.sccrimestoppers.com. Tips can be anonymous, and anyone with information leading to the arrest of a suspect can receive a reward of up to $1,000.
