A Columbia man who parked illegally at a New Jersey airport was arrested after police saw a firearm magazine in plain sight.

Port Authority police on duty near Newark Liberty International Airport Terminal A noticed an unoccupied Toyota vehicle with a temporary plate parked in a no standing zone around 4:35 p.m. Thursday, according to a Senior Police Public Information Officer Joe Pentangelo.

While police investigated, the driver, Antonio J. McDuffie, approached the officer.

The officer requested McDuffie’s registration, license and insurance and noticed a loaded magazine for a pistol in the driver’s side door panel. Police found a loaded Hi Point C9 9 mm semi-automatic pistol in the vehicle’s glove box.

Police arrested McDuffie, 35, of Deerwood Run Trail. During the arrest, police discovered he had an active warrant out of South Orange, N.J.

McDuffie was charged with possession of a weapon and bail jumping. His bail was set at $100,000 with no cash option.
