Vehicle crash fatality in Orangeburg County goes undiscovered for more than a day

A one-vehicle crash in Orangeburg County on Sunday left one dead, but that driver wasn’t discovered until 38 hours after the accident occurred.

A 2006 Cadillac was travelling west on SC Hwy 4 when it went off the road at approximately 4 a.m. Sunday, said Cpl. Sonny Collins of the SC Highway Patrol. The Cadillac hit some trees and the driver, the vehicle’s lone occupant wasn’t wearing a seatbelt, according to Cpl. Collins, who said the Cadillac wasn’t discovered until 6 p.m. Monday.

The incident remains under investigation.
