Box-cutter threat leads to man being run over

Richland County deputies are investigating after an altercation involving a box cutter that led to a man being hit by a vehicle Wednesday night.

The incident happened at 9:45 p.m. in the 1600 block of Dupont Drive, not far from Decker Boulevard, according to deputies. The two men involved had been fighting throughout the day, sheriff’s spokesman Lt. Curtis Wilson said.

An unarmed man told officers he got into his vehicle and was trying to leave when he struck the man who had the box cutter. The armed man was taken to a hospital.
