Columbia police searching for suspects in shooting

A shooting occurred Sunday afternoon and the Columbia Police Department is searching for suspects.

Columbia Police Chief Skip Holbrook released surveillance pictures of the alleged suspects and a vehicle involved in the shooting, which occurred around noon at the intersection of North Main Street and Lorick Circle – near the Lutheran Thoelogical Southern Seminary.

According to witnesses, a light purple/blue colored Dodge Charger – with chrome rims and damage to the driver’s backside – with at least three suspects inside shot at another vehicle, said public information liaison Jennifer Timmons, adding no motive for the shooting is known.

Four people were inside the vehicle which was allegedly targeted, including two teenagers, according to Timmons, who said one male passenger was grazed in the back by a bullet and was taken to a local hospital where he was treated for a non-life threatening injury. No one else was injured, Timmons said.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Columbia Police Department or Crimestoppers at 1-888-CRIME-SC.
