Columbia police investigating a shooting Thursday on Laurel Street

Columbia police are on the scene of a shooting Thursday afternoon on Laurel Street at the Allen Benedict Court housing complex.

According to tweets from the Columbia Police Department, a male was found shot in the lower leg. His injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.

Police K-9 units were brought in to search the site of the shooting. Investigators are interviewing possible witnesses and collecting evidence.
