Head-on collision kills Lexington man Friday morning

One man died, another was taken to a local hospital following a head-on collision Friday morning in Lexington.

Lexington County coroner Margaret Fischer identified the dead man as 63-year-old Clyde Richard Poole of Lexington.

The accident on Barr Road at 7:26 a.m. Friday involved three SUVs, the South Carolina Highway Patrol said.

Poole’s 2011 Chevy SUV was headed south on Barr Road when it crossed the center line forcing one SUV into a ditch and running head-on into a 2016 Ford SUV. The driver of that vehicle sustained minor injuries and was taken to a local hospital, trooper David Jones said.

Poole was entrapped by the accident and had to be cut out of his vehicle. He died on the scene.

The South Carolina Highway Patrol continues to investigate the accident.
